Mission: The Greater Worcester Land Trust promotes the protection, stewardship, and
appreciation of open space to enhance the quality of life and functioning of natural systems in
Worcester and the region.


Organizational Overview: The Greater Worcester Land Trust, Inc., which was founded in 1987,
is a strong advocate for open spaces for wildlife habitat and passive recreation in the Greater
Worcester region. The Trust owns or holds legal rights to roughly 2600 acres of conservation
land in 10 Central Massachusetts towns. Our major initiatives and projects are achieved through
the engagement of volunteers, and outside partners, be they non-profit or government agency.

The Stewardship Director is a salaried, full-time position, with the responsibilities listed below.
Based at the GWLT office at 4 Ash Street, this position reports to the Executive Director,
providing critical organizational support functions as described below. The position is salaried at
$40,000 and includes healthcare and a 401K plan.


Primary Responsibilities:
● Manage and steward the Trust’s inventory of owned lands, lands subject to Conservation
Restrictions, and lands subject to easements. This involves field work, including at
remote locations, and in inclement weather, in all seasons;
● Manage volunteers and cooperative partnerships to achieve the Trust’s stewardship,
monitoring, and improvement work. This involves supervising both individuals and
groups;
● Communicate digitally with membership, users, and volunteers through online social
media, including email, text, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, Constant Contact, etc.;
● Answer phones; respond to emails; greet drop-in visitors at the Trust office;
● Assist with grant proposals and appeal mailings, including detailed revenue tracking;
● Provide support for Trust organizational events; assist with tabling for organization at
community events.
Qualifications:
● Prior work experience, preferably field work in a conservation context;
● Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility to operate with volunteers and in a small office
environment;
● Ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
● Exacting attention to detail;
● Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines;
● Highly organized and self-motivated;
● Proficiency in Google Apps, Constant Contact, as well as GIS (ESRI) is desired;
● Familiarity with Conservation Restrictions, CR Baseline Reports, and CR monitoring;
● Solid writing and editing skills;
● Willingness to learn Landscape App; previous experience with stewardship programs.
