GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Wildlands Trust seeks a full-time Programming Coordinator to execute strategic programming intended to engage volunteers, youth, and the general public with the Wildlands Trust mission through environmental education and outdoor recreation.  

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and experience delivering programs for various age groups. They should be excited by the opportunity to work within a growing and dynamic environmental nonprofit organization. A friendly and approachable attitude and creative mindset will be key to success in this public-facing role.   

The Programming Coordinator will interact with community members of all ages, genders, races, and physical abilities from over 50 towns by providing relevant, meaningful programs and services. They will work as part of the outreach team and will report directly to the Chief of Staff. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

- Plan and coordinate creative outdoor and indoor public programming that highlights Wildlands’ work across Southeastern MA. 

- Co-lead the Brockton High School Envirothon program. 

- Plan and lead summer service-learning programs for teens in Brockton. 

- Train and manage adult volunteer program leaders and ambassadors. 

- Engage the public in Wildlands’ mission at community events.  

- Serve on the event planning committee for 1 – 2 major events per year.  

- Oversee membership and communications for the community garden. 

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS 

- Degree in environmental and/or educational fields preferred.  

- Experience working with youth, especially the high school age group. 

- Public speaking skills and confidence. 

- Leadership experience with groups of varying demographics. 

- Ability to manage adult and youth volunteers. 

- Sensitivity to cultural differences across and within communities. 

- Motivation to work both independently and with a team. 

- Ability to multitask and manage time appropriately as well as meet deadlines. 

- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, preferably Microsoft 365. 

- Competence with AV systems for presentations and workshops.  

- Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and evenings.  

- Love for the outdoors, and familiarity with local natural resources is a plus. 

- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination required. 

Schedule: 

40 hours/week flexible schedule with regular nights and weekends. 

Location: 

Office work is conducted at the Wildlands Trust headquarters in Plymouth, MA. Programs will be held at various Wildlands Trust preserves across Southeastern MA. Youth programming is in Brockton, MA. Vehicles are provided for work-related travel to and from the Plymouth office. 

Salary & Benefits: 

Salary range $40-47K/year, based on experience. Benefits include healthcare, dental, retirement account with employer match, flexible healthcare spending account with employer contribution, 13 paid holidays, and paid sick, personal, and vacation days. Staff communal housing may be available for eligible applicants.

History: Founded in 1973, Wildlands Trust is one of the largest and oldest regional land trusts in Massachusetts and has helped to ensure the protection of nearly 14,000 acres of natural and agricultural lands. Currently, we have ten full-time and four part-time staff carrying out the day-to-day activities of the organization. We also have interns, seasonal employees and volunteers who assist us on a regular basis. Our Board of Directors comprises 19 committed individuals from the communities we serve.
