ABOUT FIRST LIGHT CAPE AND ISLANDS COLLECTIVE
The First Light Collective for the Cape & Islands (FLCIC) consists of non-profits, private foundations, and community organizations within Southeastern MA that are actively working to support land access and land return to Indigenous tribes.
SCOPE OF WORK
FLCIC has received $14,250 in grant funds to hire an independent contractor to facilitate the group’s monthly meetings and identify ways for FLCIC to strengthen its impact, sustainability, and capacity. The anticipated start date is January 15th (flexible) with a varied time commitment per week. The selected facilitator will receive guidance and oversight from the FLCIC Steering Committee. This role is primarily remote with the potential for in-person meetings depending on the consultant’s location. Responsibilities include:
Operational Management and Capacity Building
- Schedule, plan, and facilitate monthly meetings of FLCIC members.
- Track FLCIC group membership.
- Support the group in developing and implementing key goals, including: Budget and staffing recommendations; Grant and other revenue options; Finalizing mission statement; Establishing organizational structures.
Communications
- Review effectiveness of internal communications and identify opportunities to improve.
Ideal Qualities of an applicant:
Successful facilitation experience in the non-profit sphere
Understanding of land conservation and/or community organizations
Connections to or knowledge of indigenous communities
These qualities are not requirements. We encourage applicants to demonstrate how their skills and abilities best suit them for this role.
