TerraCorps is a nonprofit organization working at the intersection of land conservation, sustainable farming, and local food systems to build local nonprofit capacity while growing the next generation of emerging leaders committed to making a difference at the community level. We value the power of local nonprofits to best understand and serve their communities, and our goal is to help them succeed by providing them access to the AmeriCorps national service model to build organizational capacity.

TerraCorps partners with a network of nonprofits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island focused on community needs related to local land conservation and sustainable agriculture. These partners act as service sites for a new cohort of AmeriCorps service members annually. Service members are paired with a site supervisor who provides guidance and mentorship while they learn to manage community programs and projects over a 1,700-hour service term. The 2026–27 service year runs September 8, 2026, to July 30, 2027.

Metacomet Land Trust is interviewing candidates for a Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC). The CEC will engage with the President to manage volunteers on community service projects, educate or train individuals in environmental stewardship or environmentally conscious practices, and complete three capacity building projects.

Potential projects include:
• Develop a series of community engagement events (such as hikes, speakers and socials) to bring
people to our properties and increase Metacomet’s visibility in our communities.
• Team up with community stakeholders to create and implement signature fall and spring events
to heighten our visibility in our service area.
• Create and coordinate monthly iNaturalist bio blitz events at our fee-owned properties to
demonstrate how world-wide citizen science applications can be applied at the local level.

Applications for this position must be submitted via the TerraCorps online application.
