UMass/MLTC partner on conservation-based estate planning webinar series

October 2, 2020

UMass and MLTC are partnering to put on a monthly webinar series for landowners on conservation-based estate planning. This work is funded through the MA DCR Working Forests Initiative.

Topics for the webinar series include: family goal setting, using wills and trusts for passing on land (Nov. 10), determining the ecological and financial value of land (Dec. 8), Ch. 61 current use programs (Jan. 12), permanently protecting land (Feb. 9), and the tax benefits of land conservation (March 9). April 13 will be a working session - the opportunity to ask questions and develop a plan to move forward.

Find registration and details here about the individual events.

To promote this event, we are direct-mailing a postcard to landowners across the state, some of which might be in your service area. Download the postcard. We're asking for your help in two ways:

  1. Please help spread the word. To make it easier for you, we have put together a marketing package of text and photos that can be used in emails and social media platforms. Use the text as is or adapt it to meet your needs. Download the marketing package.

  2. We continue to identify speakers, so if you have suggestions, including landowners willing to share their stories, please contact Paul Catanzaro. It is our hope that webinar speakers will represent diverse organizations and regions of the state.

Thank you in advance for helping us reach landowners and inform the critical decisions they make about the future of their land!
