The Land Stewardship Coordinator TerraCorps member supports environmental stewardship by organizing stewardship volunteers, completing individual stewardship projects, and establishing property monitoring protocols.
Applicants should have a strong interest in environmental studies or science as well as community engagement in the stewardship of lands. They should be organized, ready to lead volunteers with varied backgrounds, comfortable serving outside in the elements, and able to serve independently as well as in a team.
The 11-month stipend is $27,000. This position is August 26, 2024 – July 25, 2025, 40 hours Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work when needed. After completing 1700 hours of service an education award of $7,395 is available from AmeriCorps.
Potential projects include:
- Set up Landscape software to track stewardship needs on Opacum properties and establish property monitoring protocols.
- Coordinate educational walks on our properties about environmental stewardship, or educational activities on environmentally conscious practices.
- Set up a volunteer stewardship program to assist with property monitoring including coordinating property workdays for trail improvements, habitat management, and maintenance.
