Land Acquisition & Farm Development Manager
(part-time)
Boston Farms Community Land Trust is seeking a diligent, driven, self-directed, highly organized manager to oversee the identification, acquisition, and development of urban farm sites in Mattapan, Dorchester, and Roxbury.
Hours: Half-time (25 hours/week, semi-flexible scheduling)
Location: Fowler Clark Epstein Farm, Mattapan (some remote work possible)

Compensation: $35-40/hour depending on experience
Responsibility
Identify potential farmsites in collaboration with prospective farmers, neighborhood residents/associations, and Boston Farms staff
Co-chair the Acquisition & Development Committee of our board with a board member to promote the acquisition and development of farmsites throughout our services areas by co-leading the community input process on major development projects; streamlining design acquisition and development processes, and originating and co-sponsoring community charrettes as needed.
Outreach to and work with neighborhood associations to determine and integrate desired outcomes
Conduct the legal, governmental, and community engagement processes of site acquisition
Manage the development of farmsites, including designing in accordance with zoning and building regulations, development and management of project budgets, hiring and managing of contractors
Raise funds from designated sources to finance farmsite acquisition and development
Requirements
3-5 years of experience in land development, real estate development, construction management, or related work
Skilled project manager with the ability to manage up to 6 acquisition and development projects
Experience in budgeting and accounting
Strong organization, communication, and community relations skills
Comfort with Google Docs, Microsoft Word/Excel, or equivalent platforms
Preferences: Knowledge of zoning, urban design, and building regulations; Experience with community/neighborhood engagement; Experience with fundraising and public support; Familiarity with farming, gardening, or landscape management; Strong familiarity with Boston neighborhoods; Live close to our sites in Mattapan, Dorchester, and Roxbury; Use of your own vehicle
