Senior Director of Administration, Development, and Finance

Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation seeks a qualified professional to serve as Senior Director of Development, Finance, and Administration with experience in non-profit fundraising and with excellent organizational skills. This is a newly established role with a primary responsibility of managing and building our donor base, administering finances, and general administrative support to the Executive Director. We are a small organization looking for someone who can wear many hats to help us further our mission and grow our organizational capacity. The Senior Director will be an important ambassador for Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation in the island community.

Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation is the local land trust for the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Our mission is to conserve the natural, beautiful, rural landscape and character of Martha’s Vineyard for present and future generations. We protect 3,217 acres of land across the island. We own 72 distinct preserves comprising 2,394 acres, and hold 42 conservation restrictions over an additional 823 acres. RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
Development: Oversee all aspects of general fundraising including acknowledgement, solicitations, database upkeep, growth of the base of donors; maintain the website and oversee social media communications; plan and manage the Summer Benefit and other fundraising events.
Finance: Oversee the finances of the organization, prepare financial reports for the Board of Directors, assist in preparation of the operating and capital budget, maintain financial records on fundraising initiatives, monitor expenses for specific properties and projects, and work closely with bookkeeper and accountants.
Administration: Assist the Executive Director, maintain written and electronic records, open and distribute mail, provide administrative support for all Board and certain committee meetings, prepare documents for meetings of the Executive Director with donors, ensure timely filing of forms and reports, update and distribute the Board Policy Manual.
Other duties as assigned.

Skills:
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate.
• At least 2 years of experience in development and fundraising preferred.
• Experience in finance preferred; experience with bookkeeping and accounting a plus.
• Experience with social media a plus
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with others and build relationships.
• Strong diplomatic and communication skills.
• Technical skills: proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required; experience with
Wordpress preferred, ability to work with Donorperfect database required.

Educational Background
A bachelor's degree is required for this position. Experience in fundraising is desired. Experience in finance is desired. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé.
