Early Notice: NEFF Climate-Smart Forestry Positions

New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF) is seeking new team members to expand our efforts
to support the highest level of ecological and climate-smart forestry across the region.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently awarded $30 million under their Partnerships for
Climate-Smart Commodities program to the NEFF-led New England Climate Smart
Commodities Partnership project.

This program represents an unprecedented opportunity to pilot carbon-saving forest
management practices as part of a larger systems approach, which also includes forestland
protection, wildland preservation and building with wood to store carbon and displace
carbon intensive materials. Through this program, NEFF will define and implement a
groundbreaking and nationally relevant pilot program in New England to build a climate-smart, forest-based economy as a powerful tool for climate action. The project centers on
three primary components:

1) Implement climate-smart forest management practices
2) Predict and document the expected carbon gains, and
3) Build markets for climate-smart forest products.

NEFF’s expanded team will include a mix of positions focused on high-level and visionary
foresters, a family forest outreach specialist, a climate-smart wood sourcing expert, and a
program administration and management specialist. Detailed postings will be issued soon.

New England Forestry Foundation values the importance of a diverse workforce, supports
equity in the fields of conservation and forestry, and strives to empower candidates from all
backgrounds to apply. All staff positions receive generous benefits packages, which can be
viewed on NEFF’s Careers webpage.
